What if You Can't Afford Medical Care?

A lot of our clients can't afford to go to the doctor. Maybe they don't have medical insurance or maybe they can't afford the copay, even on a sliding scale or at a free clinic. We encourage our cilents to get medical care if they can. It's very hard to persuade the government or a Judge that you're disabled if there are no medical records to document your problems. So try to get medical care. But, if you can't get medical care, we sometimes ask SSA to send you for an exam at government expense to help determine whether you're disabled.
