A lot of veterans ask us if they can apply for both social security disability and veterans' disability. And you should know that the answer is a resounding yes. You can receive both benefits without having one benefit affect the amount that you get in the other. So you can receive both your full social security disability benefit and your full VA disability benefit. Now, the rules are different for each benefit, so you need a lawyer who understands those differences. For Social Security Disability, you can consider any kind of medical condition that you have. The question is whether those medical conditions keep you from working. For Veterans' disability, the VA only considers your service connected conditions. So it's usually harder to prove the VA case than the social security cases. At Friedman Law Firm, we can help you with both. We think that the cases are related as far as strategy goes. And we try to develop one strategy to help with both cases.
