On April 16, 2021, SSA issued new instructions to its decision-makers about how COVID-19 should be evaluated when determining disability. The instructions come in an Emergency Message (EM) which acknowledges that COVID-19 can lead to cardiovascular, renal, neurological, and psychiatric complications, among others. The EM outlines what requirements must be met to establish that a person had COVID which was severe enough to cause disability for an established period of time.
You can read more about the EM here.
If you had, or currently have COVID, and you believe it will keep you from working for a prolonged time period, please contact us to discuss filing for disability benefits. We can be reached by emailing Lifehealth@FriedmanFirmPC.com or calling 205-879-3033.
